Zero Tolerance Policy

The NHS operate a Zero Tolerance Policy with regard to violence and abuse.

Kirby Road Surgery therefore has the right to remove any violent individuals from the patient list with immediate effect in order to safeguard practice staff, patients and other people.

Violence in this context includes:

  • Actual violence
  • Threatened violence
  • Verbal abuse
  • Harassment

Such violence can be face to face or over the telephone.

In this situation, we will formally notify the patient via a written letter of their deduction from the list. We will also record in the patient’s personal medical records that they have been removed and the reason for their removal.
